The Rehabilitation Of Privately Owned Homes

The Rehabilitation of Privately-Owned Homes Program provides assistance to existing homeowners by affording them a clean, safe and sanitary home.

The Program provides for the rehabilitation services of privately-owned homes for low income Native Americans, with preference afforded to Creek Citizens who reside in the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Tribal Jurisdictional Area. The program follows the National Median Family Income Schedule published annually by HUD, as well as other federal regulations.

The scope of items included under the program may include roof repair, foundation repair, plumbing, electrical, sewer systems, cabinetry repair, HVAC repairs, or installations.

Not included under the program are general maintenance or cosmetic repairs.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for admission to the Rehabilitation of Privately Owned Homes Housing program operated by this authority, applicants must:

• Qualify as a family (includes a family with or without children, an elderly family, a near-elderly family, a disabled family or a single person).

• Be low-income Native American families living in the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Jurisdictional Area.

• Provide proof of ownership and of the dwelling to be rehabilitated and must have owned and resided in the dwelling three (3) years prior to requesting services. 

• Have an annual family income which does not exceed eighty (80) percent of the National Median Income for their family size, as defined by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

• Not have received any housing services through the Muscogee (Creek) Nation within the last eight (8) years. This includes Mutual Help homes.

Q. My house is not very energy efficient. Would that be covered under the Rehab of Private Homes Program?

A. Yes, weatherization is part of the program.

Q. Does the program provide pest extermination?

A. No, this would be considered general maintenance.

Q. Does this program provide storm shelters?

A. No, The Housing Division does not have a program that provides storm shelters or safe rooms.

Q. My house was rehabed thru this program several years ago but now needs more repairs. Can I apply again?

A. You may apply again as long as it has been over 8 yrs. since you last received services.
